East Side Enters Win Column With 7-2 Victory Over Auburn

Worcester, MA --- Regan Aghdam struck out six batters and helped his own cause with an RBI single in the third as East Side Post 201
snapped a three-game skid with a 7-2 triumph over visiting Auburn Post 279 on Friday night in an American Legion Zone 4 baseball
game played at Tivnan Field at Lake Park. The Raider win is also the first for rookie skipper
Dan Generelli.

After Aghdam issued a trio of free passes and a sacrifice fly off of Auburn's
James Sheehan, the Raider co-captain struck out the next two
batters to escape the frame. Aghdam went on to fan the side in the second and picked up another strikeout in the third as East Side
collectively set down nine batters in-a-row.

Jimmy Smith responded in the home half of the first as he belted a 2-0 offering over the fence in right center for the first Post 201
round-tripper of the season. The Raiders added another pair of tallies in the third as
Tim Brutto and Aghdam used back-to-back singles to
make it a 3-1 ballgame.

Nick Lemay lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to bring the game back within a run in the top of the fourth. Peter Bovenzi
scampered home on a wild pitch and
Brandon O'Connor touched home courtesy of a miscue on a double steal as East Side extended its
advantage to 5-2 in the bottom of the stanza.

Post 201 added a pair of insurance markers in the fifth behind a bases loaded walk issued to Smith and an O'Connor RBI hit through the
right side.
Nick Lemay recorded the only Auburn hit the rest of the way while the final four Post 279 batters went down in order.  

Aghdam (1-0) allowed two runs on one hit in four-plus innings to go along with the six K's. C
am Frederick, Jeremy Blake-Johnson and
Steve Albert each tossed a scoreless inning of relief for the Raiders.

Lemay (0-1) struck out three batters in four innings for Post 279.
Dennis Sneade took the mound for the fifrh and Tyler Barrie finished
the game with a scoreless sixth.

O'Connor and Brutto each went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI as Smith pitched in with a pair of RBI at the top of the order.
batted 1-for-2 and scored a pair of runs in his season debut.

East Side (1-3, 1-2 First 13) continues a five-game homestand with a 5pm game against Shrewsbury on Saturday, Auburn (0-1, 0-1 First
13) heads to Northbridge on Sunday for an 11am start.
