Seventh Inning Surge Propels East Side Past Northbridge, 6-2

Whitinsville, MA --- Jimmy Smith delivered a one-out RBI double in the top of the seventh to snap a 2-2 stalemate and push East Side
Post 201 past Northbridge Post 343, 6-2, in a key American Legion Zone 4 tilt on a sun-soaked Sunday afternoon at Northbridge Middle
School. The Raiders improve to 8-3 overall and 8-2 in First 13 action while Northbridge dips to 5-4 on the year and in First 13 contests.

With the game tied 2-2 with one out in the top of the seventh,
Tim Brutto doubled to left center and was joined by Joe Consolmagno
courtesy of a walk. Smith then used his third double of the season to plate Brutto for the go-ahead tally. An intentional walk issued to
Regan Aghdam loaded the bases to set the stage for Brandon O’Connor to drive in a pair of runs on a single through the left side. Nate
followed with an RBI ground out to short for the 6-2 final.

Jake Ryan and Jake Byrne recorded back-to-back singles through the left side with one out only to see Brutto fan the final
two batters of the game.

Zach Zona batted 2-for-4 while Consolmagno drove in a run and scored twice and O’Connor led Post 201 with a pair of RBI. Jack Riley
allowed two runs – one earned – on three hits while striking out five and walking five in the first three innings. Consolmagno (1-1)
yielded one hit in three frames and picked up the victory. Brutto closed out the game for the Raiders. In all, the East Side pitching staff
combined to strike out nine batters on the day.

Byrne was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI for Northbridge. On the bump, Byrne absorbed the loss as he surrendered six
runs – four earned – on eight hits and struck out three in a complete game effort. Ryan,
Tyler Galimi and Robbie Fraser accounted for
the remaining Post 343 safeties.

After a pair of scoreless innings, East Side broke through with a pair of tallies. Consolmagno singled up the middle for an RBI and later
scored on a run-producing hit by Aghdam. Byrne responded for Northbridge in the bottom of the stanza as he doubled to left enabling
Galimi to score.

Post 343 left three runners aboard on the home-half of the third while East Side did the same in the top of the fourth.

Northbridge looked to capitalize on a pair of wild pitches with a runner on third in the bottom of the fourth. The first attempt was
thwarted before
Mitchell Goldman evened the game at 2-2.

The game remained deadlocked until East Side surge in the seventh.

Post 201 will entertain Framingham tomorrow at 7pm in the first of two non-First 13 games this week. Northbridge also begins a two-
game non-First 13 slate with a home game against Cherry Valley on Tuesday at 5:30pm
