East Side Secures Zone 4 National-Bound Championship Game Berth

Worcester, MA ---Cam Frederick and Jimmy Smith combined to bat 4-for-7 with a total of four RBI and two runs scored to help send
East Side Post 201 to the Massachusetts American Legion Zone 4 National-Bound Championship game courtesy of a 7-3 victory over host
Main South Post 341 in a Sunday matinée at Kevin D. Lyons Baseball Diamond at Rockwood Park.

The Raiders (12-4) overcame an 0-2 start to the season and entered the First 13 clubhouse with a zone-best 11-2 record and the top seed
for Saturday's 7pm title game to be played at Tivnan Field at Lake Park, a site determined before the season began. The winner-take-all
game replaces the eight-team single-elimination Zone 4 Mini-Tournament.

Saturday's victor will advance to the state portion of the national-bound competition at the College of the Holy Cross beginning on
Thursday, July 11. The three-day eight-team single-elimination tournament will determine the Massachusetts entry in the Northeast
Regional in Middletown, CT starting on Thursday, August 8.

Frederick and Smith were the only batters with multiple hits while
Joe Consolmagno batted 1-for-2 with two walks, and RBI and a run.
Nate Frederick pitched in with two runs scored. Jon Roy belted a three-run homer to lead Post 341.

Post 201 staged a four-run uprising in the top of the second.
Brandon O'Connor started things off as he walked and made his way around
the diamond via two wild pitches and a passed ball. Cam Frederick chased home
Erik Lacaire and Nate Frederick with a triple to deep
center field. Smith then pushed a run-producing single through the right side of the infield for the 4-0 advantage.

The visitors added two more tallies in the fourth on an RBI triple by Consolmagno and a
Tim Brutto sacrifice fly to center field. Smith
capped the East Side scoring in the fifth courtesy of an RBI hit through the middle of the infield.

Main South did all its damage in the bottom of the sixth.
Mike Sullivan walked and Tom Petry was plunked to set the stage for Roy's
three-run blast down the left field line.

Consolmagno (2-1) yielded two hits and two walks and struck out four over five scoreless innings.
Cam Frederick fanned one in a two
innings of relief.
Peter Bovenzi, who connected on a key round-tripper yesterday, surrendered the three-run shot.

Post 341's
Luke Brennan allowed six runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts in three and a third. Anthony Rentsch was
touched up for a run on three hits and three walks in the balance of the contest.

East Side returns to action on Wednesday when Post 201 heads to Cherry Valley for an 8pm regular season tilt. Main South (5-8, 4-7
First 13) begins a four-game road trip with a 5:30 contest at Shrewsbury on Monday.
