Raiders Ready to Face Rival Leominster in Winner-Take-All Zone 4 Tilt

Worcester, MA --- The East Side Post 201 Raiders will take on rival Leominster Post 151 on Saturday night at Tivnan Field at Lake Park
for the right to represent Zone 4 in the Massachusetts American Legion Baseball National Bound Tournament. Game time is set for 7pm.

The winner will take on the representative from Zone 6 on July 11 at 9:30 a.m. to kick off the eight-team single elimination tournament at
Holy Cross’ Fitton Field. The three-day competition will decide Massachusetts’ entry in the Northeast Regional that will be held in
Middletown, CT beginning on Thursday, August 8. Walpole faces Hyde Park at 4pm on Sunday to determine Zone 4’s opponent.

East Side, led by first-year skipper
Dan Generelli, is 13-1 – including a stretch that contained a season-best nine-game winning streak -
after beginning the campaign 0-3. Leominster, who swept Post 201 in the season-opening twinbill, enters Saturday’s game 13-3 under
rookie head coach
Jeff Dedeian.

Since 2006, the Raiders claim a 9-4 advantage in the series that includes four East Side playoff victories. In 2008, Post 201 swept Post
151 in a best 2-of-3 in the second round of the Zone 4 tournament. The teams met again in a state tournament elimination game en route
to the Raiders title in 2011. Most recently, East Side ousted Leominster from the 2012 Zone 4 Mini-Tournament before bowing out to
Milford in the semifinals.

In the season-opener,
Jimmy Smith led the way for Post 201 with a 4-for-7 day with a double, an RBI and three stolen bases.  Brandon
was the only other Raider with a pair of hits (2-for-6) to go along with an RBI. Zach Zona made his Post 201 debut while Joe
, Peter Bovenzi and Tim Brutto also saw time on the hill for East Side.

Nick Bergeron scored the go-ahead run in the opener and belted a home run in game two. He was joined by Roland LaPointe who batted
2-for-3 with a double, three stolen bases and a pair of runs scored.
Matt Russell and Kyle Cutler each turned in a complete game effort on
the mound. Russell allowed one run on six hits and struck out seven in game one while Cutler surrendered three runs - one earned - on five
hits and fanned five in the nightcap.

To date, Zona sports a 3-1 record with a 0.82 ERA and two complete games. He has struck out a team-best 27 batters in a squad-leading
25.2 innings. Smith heads up the offense with a .364 batting average with five doubles and a home run to go along with 11 stolen bases on
12 attempts.

Russell earned two of the three Leominster victories at The Lake this season as he also picked up a 6-2 decision on June 29 against
Grafton Hill.
Rick Christian cleared the right field fence on consecutive at-bats to provide the early fireworks for Post 151.
