ESRaiders.com Presents "17 Games of East Side"
Worcester, MA --- As we are in the midst of the “12 Days of Christmas”, the editorial staff at ESRaiders.com has compiled a “17 Games of
East Side” list - a day-by-day look at the jaw-dropping 17 elimination games that the Raiders won this past summer. After dropping its
first two “Opening 13” games (and first three contests overall), Post 201 had their back against the wall 17 times before finally
succumbing in the Northeast Regional championship game.
Friday, June 14
East Side 7, Auburn 2 - Game Recap
Brandon O'Connor batted 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored as the Raiders snapped the season-opening three-game skid. After
surrendering a bases loaded sacrifice fly to open the game, Regan Aghdam struck out six batters in-a-row as the team set down a total of
nine consecutive batters as the Red and Black took the 3-1 lead after three. Tim Brutto also had a pair of hits (2-for-4) with an RBI as
Steve Albert, Jeremy Blake-Johnson and Cam Frederick each tossed a scoreless inning. Post 201 also secured Dan Generelli's first win
as the East Side skipper.
Saturday, June 15
East Side 4, Shrewsbury 0 - Game Recap
Jimmy Smith executed a textbook bunt hit, moved to second on an infield miscue and crossed home plate an RBI single by Nate Frederick
for the only run East Side needed to secure its first win over Shrewsbury since 2010. Smith batted 1-for-1 on the day with a walk and a
sacrifice fly. Jack Riley combined with Nate Frederick to deliver back-to-back tallies in the fourth inning for the initial 2-0 advantage.
Zach Zona hurled a four-hit complete game shutout in his first victory for Post 201 and made it a four-run ballgame with an RBI double
in the sixth.
Sunday, June 16
East Side 4, Cherry Valley 3 - Game Recap
Cam Frederick tossed a scoreless 1 2/3 and picked up his first of four relief victories of the season. He helped his cause by drawing a
leadoff walk to setup a two-run blast by Tim Brutto (2-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 runs) as the Raiders took the final 4-3 lead in the fifth. Joe
Consolmagno also went 1 2/3 to collect his first save of the campaign. After falling behind 1-0, Brutto scampered home on a wild pitch
and Jimmy Smith once again reached on a bunt single and scored as the Raiders took a 2-1 lead after a full inning.
Monday, June 17
East Side 5, North County 0 - Game Recap | Photos
Jack Riley scattered four hits over seven innings and struck out nine in a complete game shutout as the Raiders won their fourth game in
as many days. Peter Bovenzi went 2-for-2 with a run scored and Cam Frederick finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Nate
Frederick added a home run and Tim Brutto hit his fourth double of the season.
Wednesday, June 19
East Side 10, Sturbridge 0 (5 inn.) - Game Recap
Peter Bovenzi fanned eight batters and collected his first win in his first career start for Post 201. Joe Consolmagno and Jimmy Smith
each batted 2-for-3 and combined for three RBI as the Raiders extended their winning-streak to five games. Consolmagno and Tim
Brutto each knocked in a pair of runs while Jack Riley, Regan Aghdam and Erik Lacaire each scored twice for Post 201. Nate Frederick
drew three walks and crossed home plate once.
Thursday, June 20
East Side 3, Framingham 1 -Game Recap | Photos
Regan Aghdam struck out three and was not charged with an earned run in 4 1/3 as East Side captured its sixth consecutive First 13
game. Zach Zona delivered a 2 RBI single in the fourth to break up a no-hit bid and Joe Consolmagno finished the game for his second
save of the season. Aghdam added an insurance tally when he scored on a Jack Riley bunt.
Friday, June 21
East Side 11, Northboro 1 (6 inn.) - Game Recap
Pat Gallagher connected on a double in his first appearance at the plate as a Raider to send everyone home early and push East Side's
winning streak to seven games. Fellow pup Sean Murphy fielded a grounder to end the top of the sixth. Joe Consolmagno batted 3-for-
4 with four RBI, a 3-run double and a run scored to go along with a stolen base. As a team, East Side recorded four doubles and six stolen

East Side 6, Northbridge 2 -Game Recap | Photos
Joe Consolmagno yielded one hit in a three innings of relief work to pick up his first win of 2013 while pitching in with a walk, an RBI
and two runs scored. With the game tied 2-2 with one out in the top of the seventh, Tim Brutto doubled to left center and was joined by
Consolmagno courtesy of his free pass. Jimmy Smith then used his third double of the season to plate Brutto for the go-ahead tally. An
intentional walk issued to Regan Aghdam loaded the bases to set the stage for Brandon O’Connor to drive in a pair of runs on a single
through the left side. Nate Frederick followed with an RBI ground out to short for the 6-2 final.
Friday, June 28
East Side 4, Grafton Hill 0 - Game Recap | Photos
Tim Brutto set down the side in order in the bottom of the seventh as he combined with Zach Zona for the one-hit shutout as Grafton
Hill’s guests at The Lake. Most of the offensive damage was done in the fifth by Jack Riley as he hit a two-run double and stole home
following a pitching change. Zona represented the insurance tally as he scored on a Cam Frederick RBI single in the top of the seventh.
Saturday, June 29
East Side 3, Wachusett 2 - Game Recap | Photos
Tim Brutto delivered a bases-loaded walkoff single to lift the Raiders past Wachusett as Post 201 won its 10th First 13 game in-a-row
and kept the Zone 4 national-bound title game in sight. Peter Bovenzi belted his first career round-tripper to even the game (2-2) in
the bottom of the sixth. Regan Aghdam allowed two runs - one earned - on two hits with three strikeouts over the first five frames. Cam
Frederick picked up the win following a one-hit and three strikeout performance in the final two innings.
Sunday, June 30
East Side 7, Main South 3 -Game Recap
Erik Lacaire legged out a single to the pitcher and scored as part of a four-run uprising in the second to help send East Side to the Zone 4
national-bound title game. Cam Frederick and Jimmy Smith combined to bat 4-for-7 with a total of four RBI and two runs scored.
Frederick and Smith were the only batters with multiple hits while Joe Consolmagno batted 1-for-2 with two walks, and RBI and a run.
Nate Frederick pitched in with two runs scored.
Saturday, July 6
East Side 6, Leominster 5 - Game Recap | Audio | Photos
Nate Frederick snapped a 3-3 tie in the seventh with a three-run shot en route to a 6-5 win over Leominster in the Zone 4 National-
Bound Championship game. Earlier in the frame, Tim Brutto drove in the game-tying run and reached on an infield miscue. Zach Zona
fired a two-hitter with eight strikeouts to avenge his only loss of the season. Brutto collected his first save of the year and Peter Bovenzi
went 3-for-4 at the plate. Entering the game, Leominster claimed a 3-0 record at The Lake in 2013, including a sweep of the season-

East Side 13, Walpole 1 (7 inn.) - Game Recap | Telegram & Gazette | Photos
Zach Zona pitched a one-hitter while Joe Consolmagno slugged a trio of doubles and drove in five to lead the Raiders past Walpole in
the National Bound State Tournament quarterfinal. The game featured a delayed start and a venue change to the friendly confines of The
Lake, thanks to the feverish effort by the East Side coaching staff and parents who simultaneously worked on the field at Fitton and
Tivnan to get the game in. Charter TV3's Kevin Shea was a bit bummed about the delay while the Walpole reporter snapped this photo.

East Side 9, Sudbury 6 - Game Recap | Telegram & Gazette | Photos
Jimmy Smith went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored as East Side out-slugged Sudbury in the state semifinals and clinched a berth in the
2013 Northeast Regionals due to a format change that included shifting New York out of the region and allowed two Massachusetts teams
go to Middletown, CT. Cam Frederick and Tim Brutto combined to pitch a scoreless 4 1/3 while Frederick, Peter Bovenzi and Joe
Consolmagno each singled in a runner over the final two frames.

East Side 3, Rochester, NH 1 - Game Recap | Photos
For the second time in three years, Regan Aghdam was the offensive hero in the third East Side game of the Northeast Regional. Jack
Riley plated Aghdam with a run-producing double in the sixth to even the game at 1-1. In the eighth, Aghdam dropped a double down the
left field line to bring home a pair of base runners. Peter Bovenzi relieved Riley and struck out seven over the final four innings to collect
the win and
Jonathan Gonzalez had a pinch hit appearance. In 2011, Aghdam kept the Raiders alive with a ninth-inning home run
against Cranston, RI.

East Side 14, Branford, CT 7 - Game Recap | Photos
Jono Crimmin went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored to help the Raiders hand Branford, CT its second loss of 2013. Zach Zona
called for the ball on two days rest and Tim Brutto pitched a scoreless frame. Regan Aghdam, Jimmy Smith and Nate Frederick also had
three hits apiece in the nightcap of the day-night twinbill as the Raiders rewrote history by advancing further than the 2011 team. It also
setup a rematch with Barnstable for the right to play in the regional final.

East Side 7, Barnstable 3 - Telegram & Gazette | Photos
Joe Consolmagno had to wait nearly a month for this game and did not disappoint as he allowed only one run on four hits and struck out
four in a masterful 7 2/3 while also going 2-for-5 with an RBI triple. Consolmagno and the Raider defense silenced the first 11 batters,
including his Post 206 nemesis with a trio of ground outs, while the offense built a 6-0 lead through 3 1/2 innings. Following a foul out,
caught by Jono Crimmin, to begin the fifth, seven of the next 12 batters were retired on infield ground outs, including five to Cam
Frederick at second base and one to Regan Aghdam at short. Consolmagno fanned the next two batters and reached the American Legion
maximum of 12 innings pitched in three days when he induced a ground out to Jack Riley at first base. Jimmy Smith, meanwhile, gunned
down a runner at the plate to end the sixth. In addition to Consolmagno, Smith and Tim Brutto all had a pair of hits at the top of the
lineup. Nate Frederick caught every pitch of the regional for East Side including four games in the final two days of competition. The win
by the Raiders secured the first regional final appearance by a Worcester team. It was also the Red and Black’s sixth win in two
appearances (2011, 2013) which tied Sandwich (2002. 2005) for the most regional victories by a Massachusetts team in this millennium.
