East Side and North County Suspended after Eight Innings
Gardner, MA --- East Side Post 201 and North County (Gardner Post 129) were deadlocked at 5-5 when the game was suspended
due to darkness after eight innings on Wednesday night. Details regarding the resumption of the game are not available at this time.
The Raiders put up a pair of quick runs in the top of the first. With the bases juiced, Pat Gallagher plated T.J. Camoreyt with a
one-out single. Sean Murphy then pushed Erik Lacaire across with an RBI single to center for the second tally of the frame. The
North County outfield gunned down an East Side runner at the plate on both scoring plays.
Post 129 grabbed both runs back and took the two-run advantage with two outs in the home half of the frame. Matt Kachadoorian
induced a pair of fly outs to center field before plunking Seth Leslie. Josiah LeBlanc followed with a run-producing double and found
himself on third courtesy of a miscue on a ball put into play by Garrett Hall. George Thornton singled in LeBlanc to even the game
at 2-2 before Dan Jackson doubled down the left field line to plate Thornton and Hall for the two-run advantage. A ground out to
Kachadoorian prevented further damage.
Dezi Garcia was on third after drawing a walk, stealing second and advancing to third on a balk but was stranded courtesy of a
swinging strikeout. North County went down in order in the bottom of the inning.
In the third, Lacaire was abandoned in scoring position following a pair of strikeouts. Thornton connected on a two-out single to
center field but a fly out to right ended the frame.
Murphy walked to lead off the fourth and went on to steal second; however, the next three Raiders were retired in order. East Side got
two quick outs before Brad Bousquet doubled to right. He would end up on third but a hard liner to Garcia at second base left him
Post 201 regained the lead with a three-run fifth. Lacaire delivered two more runs with a double to center field. Gallagher moved
runners to second and third with a sacrifice bunt and Murphy reached on an RBI fielders choice for the 5-4 lead. The hosts left one
aboard in the bottom of the stanza.
East Side left two on in the top of the sixth before Wiley was hit by a pitch and came home on an RBI ground out by Trevor Brown to
even the game at 5-5.
The Raiders left a runner in the seventh and eighth while North County left two on in the seventh and one in the eighth.
Post 201 heads to Cherry Valley tomorrow for an 8:00pm affair at Rochdale Park in Leicester while North County hosts Wachusett on
Friday at 5:30pm.
