East Side Edged by Milford
Worcester, MA ---Andrew McMillan knocked in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh to lift Milford Post 59 to a 4-3
triumph over East Side Post 201 on Monday night in a Massachusetts American Legion Baseball Zone 4 tilt at Tivnan Field.
McMillan snapped the 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh as he drove in Matt Decina with a one-out RBI knock through the right side.
Post 59 then went down swinging before setting down the Raiders 1-2-3 in the bottom of the frame.
Milford put up a trio of unearned runs in the first. The first run crossed the plate on an infield miscue while McMillan's single drove in
two more for the initial lead.
East Side began to chip away at the deficit with doubles by Matt Kachadoorian and Dezi Garcia in the sixth. Nate Frederick and
Jono Crimmin each beat out a potential double play on back-to-back RBI fielder's choices to even it up 3-3 in the fifth.
Kachadoorian batted 2-for-3 with a run scored for East Side.
Jonathan Gonzalez, pressed into service moments prior to the game, did
not allow an earned run on five hits and struck out four in 3 1/3. Nick Cardillo went 2 2/3 while Erik Lacaire and Cam Frederick
(two strikeouts) combined for an inning of relief work.
McMillan went 2-for-2 on the evening with two walks and three RBI. Kevin Lynch was 3-for-4 at the top of the lineup while
Michael Ryan batted 2-for-4. Decina added a pair of runs scored. Cam Cossette allowed three runs on six hits and struck out nine in
six innings. McMillan struck out one and earned the save.
Both teams are back in action with 5:30pm road games on Wednesday as East Side heads to Shrewsbury and Milford ventures to
