Wachusett Holds Off East Side's Late Rally
Worcester, MA --- Cam Ruziak went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and a run scored as Wachusett (Holden Post 42) defeated
host East Side Post 201, 6-3, on Sunday evening in a Massachusetts American Legion Baseball contest at Tivnan Field.
The win moves Wachusett to 10-7 on the year while East Side is now 6-10.
Jono Crimmin batted 2-for-4 while Sean Murphy, Erik Lacaire and Pat Gallagher each had a hit and drew a walk. Dezi Garcia
added a double for the Red and Black. Lacaire struck out three in five innings pitched and Matt Kachadoorian fanned one in relief.
Jordan Teevens also had a 3-for-4 evening for the Wombats with a double and two runs scored. Daniel Jancura (2-for-4) was
another member of the multi-hit club while Connor Gill scored twice. Gill and Eric Seaver each recorded a hit and a walk for the
guests. Gill collected the win as he allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out seven in 6 2/3. Owen Gibbons picked up the save.
Post 42 grabbed a 3-0 lead after half an inning. Ruziak doubled in Gill and Teevens before scoring on a two-out single to third by
Seaver. Ruziak drove in two more in the fifth for the 5-3 lead. In the top of the seventh, Tim Post swiped home on a double steal for
the 6-0 advantage.
The Raiders began a three-run rally in the home half of the inning.
Jonathan Gonzalez touched home following an RBI ground out by
T.J. Camoreyt. Crimmin singled in Garcia with a two-out to left center. With the bases loaded, Gallagher used an RBI single to
plate Sean Murphy before a foul out ended the uprising and the game.
East Side travels to Tantasqua Regional High School on Tuesday to take on Sturbridge at 5:30pm while Wachusett hosts Sturbridge
on Monday at 5:30pm.
