East Side Climbs to One Game Under .500 With Win Over Northboro
Northboro, MA ---
Jonathan Gonzalez pitched a four-hit shutout with five strikeouts and only two walks as East Side Post 201
posted a five-inning 10-0 victory over host Northboro Post 234 in a Massachusetts American Legion Baseball Zone 4 tilt on Thursday
evening at Algonquin Regional High School.
The Raiders were led by Nick Cardillo (2-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 Runs, Walk), Erik Lacaire (2-for-3, 2 RBI, Run) and T.J. Camoreyt
(2-for-4, double, 2 runs). Jono Crimmin added a pair of RBI and Matt Kachadoorian (double) pitched in with a pair of runs scored
while Sean Murphy and Dezi Garcia also doubled.
Malik Daley, Zach Foster, Connor Troio, and Jason Lu each singled for Northboro while Lu and David Wrin walked once. Kyle
Clarkson absorbed most of the damage and was relieved by Cailean Duckett after 4 1/3.
East Side, who had allowed its opponent to score right away in four of the last five games, broke through in the top of the first when
Camoreyt came home on a fielder's choice by Crimmin. The Raiders kept Northboro off the board in the home half with the aid of a
pickoff and a caught stealing.
Post 201 staked a 4-0 lead courtesy of a three-run third. Crimmin drove in the first on a run-producing single to left. Kachadoorian
followed with an RBI double to right center. Lacaire completed the sequence with an RBI single to center field. East Side added
another in the fourth when Cardillo came home following an infield miscue.
The Raiders doubled their output in the fifth. The uprising began with an RBI knock by Lacaire. A miscue allowed the seventh run to
score. Cardillo then drove in two with a single to right and Garcia used his double to make it 10-0.
East Side (9-10) returns to the diamond on Saturday when it hosts Shrewsbury at 7:30pm. Northboro (5-15) will also be in action on
Saturday at The Lake as they are slated to face Grafton Hill at 5pm.
